StrategyQuant X can test many strategy combinations. More real CPU performance means more tests can be completed in the same working day.
StrategyQuant X Server
Powerful VPS and dedicated servers for faster backtesting, strategy generation and optimization
Run StrategyQuant X on a stable Windows Server with fast CPU cores, enough RAM and NVMe storage. A good server can help reduce long generation and testing jobs from days to hours, especially when you work with large projects, Walk-Forward tests, Monte Carlo checks and many strategy variants.
Tell us how many projects you run, how much history data you use and whether you need light testing or heavy 24/7 strategy generation. We will suggest the right CPU, RAM and disk configuration.
Get server recommendationStrategyQuant X is research software, not just another trading terminal.
A normal Forex VPS is usually designed to keep MetaTrader online 24/7. StrategyQuant X is different. It can generate, test and filter large numbers of trading strategy variants, which makes CPU power, memory size and disk speed much more important.
When you run long generation jobs, Walk-Forward tests, Monte Carlo checks or large backtests, a weak shared VPS can quickly become the bottleneck. The result is simple: you wait longer, test fewer ideas and lose time that could be used for improving your trading systems.
Backtests and project files need fast access to data. NVMe storage helps keep the workflow responsive when history files, cache and results grow.
Robustness checks are useful, but they also increase the amount of work. A stronger server lets you run deeper validation without stopping your whole research process.
With Windows Server and Remote Desktop, your StrategyQuant X tasks can keep running while your own PC is turned off, restarted or used for other work.
Can StrategyQuant X run on a VPS, or do you need a dedicated server?
StrategyQuant X can run on a Windows VPS, but the right choice depends on your workload. For light testing and learning, a VPS can be enough. For long strategy generation, large projects and regular optimization work, a dedicated server is usually the better option.
Good for light StrategyQuant X workloads
A VPS is a good starting point if you want to learn StrategyQuant X, test smaller projects or keep the software available through Remote Desktop without using your home PC all day.
- Good for: learning, small tests, occasional backtesting and simple research tasks.
- Lower monthly cost than a full dedicated server.
- Easy Remote Desktop access from your laptop, office PC or home computer.
- Main limitation: shared CPU resources can slow down heavy generation jobs.
Better for serious generation and research
A dedicated server gives StrategyQuant X more predictable performance. You get real CPU power, RAM and disk I/O without noisy neighbours from other VPS users on the same node.
- Good for: 24/7 generation, large datasets, Walk-Forward and Monte Carlo checks.
- Exclusive CPU resources for long backtesting and optimization sessions.
- More RAM and NVMe capacity for larger StrategyQuant X projects.
- Best choice when waiting days for results is no longer acceptable.

What server configuration do you need for StrategyQuant X?
The best server depends on how you use StrategyQuant X. Small tests can run on a VPS, but serious strategy generation, large projects and regular robustness checks need stronger CPU, more RAM and fast NVMe storage.
For learning and small projects
A starter server is enough if you are learning StrategyQuant X, testing small ideas or want a remote Windows environment instead of running everything on your laptop.
For regular strategy generation
This is the practical choice for traders who use StrategyQuant X regularly and want faster generation, better comfort and enough resources for larger tests.
For serious backtesting and validation
Choose this level when StrategyQuant X becomes part of your daily workflow and you run long jobs, Walk-Forward tests, Monte Carlo checks or many projects in parallel.
For teams and advanced algo traders
For advanced users, the best setup is often not one big server for everything, but a separate research server plus a clean live trading VPS for MetaTrader.

Do not mix live trading and heavy StrategyQuant X research on one server.
Live trading and strategy research have different goals. Your live MetaTrader server should stay clean, stable and predictable. StrategyQuant X, on the other hand, can fully load CPU, RAM and disk while it generates strategies, runs backtests and performs validation checks.
That is why serious algo traders often use two separate environments: a smaller low-latency VPS for live MT4/MT5 trading and a stronger dedicated server for StrategyQuant X, backtesting and research.
Low-latency VPS for live MetaTrader
This server is used only for live MT4/MT5 terminals, Expert Advisors, signals or copy trading.
- Stable 24/7 MetaTrader operation
- Low latency to European broker infrastructure
- No heavy research tasks on the same machine
Dedicated server for StrategyQuant X research
This machine handles strategy generation, backtesting, Walk-Forward tests, Monte Carlo checks and large projects.
- High CPU load does not affect live trading
- More RAM and NVMe storage for research data
- Safe place for experiments, updates and long runs
Why cheap VPS hosting is often slow for StrategyQuant X.
For live Forex trading, many traders look first at latency and uptime. For StrategyQuant X, the main question is different: how much real CPU power, RAM and disk speed do you get when the software starts heavy generation and testing jobs?
The bottleneck is usually not ping. It is shared hardware.
A low-cost VPS can be fine for small tests, but it is often not the best place for serious StrategyQuant X work. The problem is that many cheap VPS plans share CPU, RAM and disk resources between many users on the same host node.
- Shared CPU: your generation jobs may slow down when other users load the same node.
- Low real CPU speed: many vCPU cores do not always mean strong single-core or sustained performance.
- Slow disk I/O: large projects, history data, cache and results can become painful on weak storage.
- Not enough RAM: bigger projects and validation runs can become unstable or simply too slow.
- Noisy neighbours: another busy customer on the same host can affect your testing speed.
StrategyQuant X is mainly a research and computation workload. If you only generate, backtest and validate strategies, CPU, RAM and NVMe are more important than 2 ms ping.
A European data center is convenient for Remote Desktop work, data downloads, broker-related tools and keeping your trading infrastructure close to European brokers.
If you run live MT4/MT5 trading, latency to the broker becomes important. That is why we recommend a separate low-latency VPS for live trading and a stronger server for SQX research.
